National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) was launched on19th August 2016 with an aim to provide training to workers so that they can become perfect and experienced in a particular job. The Government of India has taken this initiative to encourage apprenticeship training in the country. What is the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme 2022
With the help of the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme workers will be able to improve their skills and learn a new way of working. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship implemented the act Apprenticeship Act, of 1961 with the motive to promote apprenticeship training. The Apprentices Act of 1961 was revised by the authorities in December 2014. According to the scheme, basic training and on-the-job training will be provided to the individuals. Basic training will be given to the workers who have never received any kind of training. On-the-job training is the kind of training that is given in the workplace. This kind of training will give practical work experience to workers.

Objectives of the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme
The main purpose of the Scheme was to promote apprenticeship training all over the country. Through this program, the government of India provides various incentives to companies so that they can produce skilled workers. The Indian government is planning to increase the current participation from 2.3 lakh to 50 lakh. By taking the help of the national apprenticeship promotion system, the government authorities will provide their share to businesses and companies that will train workers. Types of Apprenticeship Training- National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme
There are two types of training that are given to employees.
- Basic training: this is the kind of training that the employee is taking for the first time before starting on-the-job training.
- According to the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme, the government gives its share of 7500 for basic training.
- On-the-job training: companies directly give this type of training to employees.
- In this type of program, the employee learns everything practically. The individual gains experience in the work culture of the organization. It is the type of formal training.
Rs 3000 Crores Allocated For Apprenticeship Training in Budget
The government keeps launching various types of schemes to promote employment in the country, so the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme is one of the schemes launched in 2016. On 1st February 2021, Nirmala sitharaman the finance minister of India made an announcement about the union budget for the years 2021-22. In this budget, the proposal was given to make changes to the apprenticeship act. These amendments will open new apprenticeship opportunities for the people of India. The government has decided to utilize Rs 3000 crores to support apprenticeship training. The government authorities have joined hands with the United Arab Emirates to develop skills, qualifications, assessments, and certifications for workers. Under this partnership, the trained employees will get work at different places. To give the best facility to the workers, the government has also taken an initiative of a collaborative training inter-training program between India and Japan.

Eligibility Criteria of National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme
For Employers-
- TIN/TAN number is a must for the Employer.
- Registration on the apprenticeship online portal is a must.
- Employers should have Aadhar-linked bank accounts.
- Employers should also have EPFO/ESIC/FACTORY/COOPERATIVE/MSME registration numbers.
- It is necessary for employers to hire apprentices in the range of 2.5 % to 10% of their overall workers.
For Apprentices
- Apprentices have to register on the portal.
- It is compulsory for the Apprentices to have an Aadhar number.
- Apprentices should have a minimum age, educational qualification, and physical qualification prescribed for trade.
- Apprentices have to fulfill all requirements of the apprentice’s act.
- Apprentices should be 14 years old.

- Aadhar linked bank account is required for Basic Training Providers.
- Basic training providers should be physically verified.
- Basic training providers have to register on the portal.

- After filling details click on the Search option
- All the details of the establishment’s name will be seen on the screen.
- Now you have to click on the establishment name to which you want to apply.
- After that, you will reach the establishment’s detail page.
- On this page, you will find a link to apply.
- Click on the given link.
- You will see the registration form on the screen.
- Fill out the form by entering all details like the applicant’s registration number, date of birth, email id, etc.
- After entering details, click on the apply option.
- Now, requests of the applicants for apprenticeships will be sent to the establishment. The request needs approval.

- The home page of the website will appear.
- You will see the establishment tab on the home page, click on it.
- After that, click on the establishment search option.
- After clicking the option, a new page will open in front of you.
- On the new page enter all details such as establishment name, region, state, district, sector, trade, etc
- After entering the details, click on the search option.
- You will see all Establishment details on screen.
How to Conduct an Apprentice Search

- The home page will appear in front of you.
- Click on the apprentice’s tab on the home page.
- After clicking on the tab, you will find the apprentice search option, click on it.
- A new page will appear.
- Enter all details like registration number, establishment name, state, district, candidate type, etc on a new page.
- Click on the search button.
- All needed information will be displayed in front of you.
Check Apprenticeship Status
- Go to the official website, of the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship
- The home page will open.
- Click on the apprentice’s tab on the home page of the website.
- Click on apprenticeship status.
- You will be directed to the new page, on this new page provide all information that is asked such as your registration number, date of birth, guardian name, and UID
- After filling in all the information click on the search
- You will see your Apprenticeship status on the screen.
Perform a BTP Search
- Visit the official website, of the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship.
- The home page will appear on the screen.
- Click on the BTP tab option on the home page,
- On the BTP tab option you will find the option of BTP search, click on it.
- After clicking the BTP search option, a new page will open.
- On this new page, enter your BTP name, BTP type, state, district, sector, trade type, trade, registration type, etc.
- Click on the search option.
- In a few seconds all needed information will be seen on screen.
National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme: Enroll Candidates

- The home page will open on the screen.
- Click on the establishment tab on the home page.
- After clicking on the tab option you will see enroll candidates option, click on it.
- Enter your login ID and password.
- After entering the password, click on the login option.
- After some time you will be enrolled.
