Type of Ration Card in ASSAM 

Ration card is an important subsistence tool for the poor people & middle class. Ration card provides proof of identity and a connection with the Government database. India’s public distribution system (PDS) is based on the ration card, which it uses to establish identity, eligibility, and entitlement. Before the implementation old NASA ‘i3’ in the state, there were three types of Ration Cards, termed as Family Identity Cards (FIC) in Assam. These three types of ration cards were meant for

  • APL    ( Above Poverty Line )
  • BPL    ( Below Poverty Line  )
  • AAY   ( Antyodaya Anna Yojana ) beneficiaries under PDS/TPDS Cards

Besides, three there was another type of Ration Card issued by the State Government which was called MMASY ( Mukhya Mantri Anna Suraksha Yojana) cards.

After the Food security Act 2013, the State Government provides two types of Cards.

The function of Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs

The Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs is responsible for monitoring the stock position and stability of food grains with general price levels prevailing in the state.

Eligibility for Applying for the Ration Card

A person who has no Ration Card can apply. The eldest woman of a family who is a bonafide citizen of this country with an annual family income (with all sources) of less than Rs. 1,00,0000 (Rupee One Lakh) may apply for getting a new ration card. The eldest male person may apply in some way. The individual must produce a certificate from the village Head/Gaon panchayat president/ward Commissioner/Inspector, FCS&CA /Concerned Authority in writing that the person has no Ration Card. Such a certificate will normally be granted after the person files an affidavit to this effect to the issuing authority. This document is to be attached along with the Ration Card application form.

  • Copies of Birth Certificate of minor age members child (Below 10 years)
  • A copy of the Voter List
  • Tax pay receipt of Land Revenue
  • Residential Proof such as Pan CARD/Driving License
  • BPL Family SI. No

  • Residential address
  • Annual income

How to Apply Online for Ration Card

  • First of all visit the (Public Distribution System) Food, Civil, Supplies, and Consumer affair Department Website.
  • Check the name in the Ration Card List
  • Visit the Food, supply & Consumer Affair office in the concerned District or village.
  • Fill the application form from the office, check the submitted details are correct.
  • Then submitted the form with the required documents.
